Zinc oxide food grade is a hexagonal close-packed (HCP) amphoteric oxide semiconductor known for such properties as high refractive index, excellent thermal conductivity, antibacterial effects, and anti-UV abilities. It is not easily soluble in water but soluble in acid and alkali. Zinc oxide powder appears white at room temperature and has a melting point of 1975℃ and density of 5.68g/cm3. At room temperature, exciton binding energy of zinc oxide reaches 60meV, allowing it to outperform other wide-bandgap materials in luminous efficiency. Zinc oxide is therefore an important material of laser and has great potentials in optoelectronics.
